Mexico is a popular place to adventure off too with your friends. You can choose to vacation any way you like in Mexico, choose to relax by the beach, or you can get adventurous with many excursions available. But what if someone wants to go bungee jumping, also known as “Puenting”; are there any bungee jumps in Mexico?
Yes, Mexico has five different bungee jumping locations in the country. You can visit the Extreme Beach Bungee in Cancun, the Paradise Bungee in Acapulco, Los Cabos Bungee Bomber in Baja California Sur, the IBO Bungee in Cola de Caballo, or the Bungy Tequesquitengo.
I will go over these locations in detail for you so you can make sure you’re getting the best experience based on what you are looking for. I have been to Mexico many times so I have also listed several related activities at the end, so if you want more to do, you have the option!
Is Bungee Jumping Safe in Mexico?
Bungee jumping is generally safe in Mexico as long as all the jumpers meet the requirements set by their chosen tour. You will want to follow all the regulations in place, such as weight limits and age requirements.
The most important part of safety bungee jumping in Mexico is choosing a reputable company. So if you can’t find reviews or they have no existence online, I do not recommend you jump with them. The five companies I list in this article follow similar safety protocols as most bungee jumps globally.
Remember this is a sport you will do at your own risk, and you will need to sign waivers as accidents can always happen. Bungee jumping when you have pre-existing conditions is dangerous no matter the location. Check with your doctor prior to jumping if you have any concerns.
Note that the regulations in Mexico may not be the same as in other countries like the USA. Be sure to choose a reputable company and ensure safety is the main priority before you jump!
Bungee Jumping Locations in Mexico
Mexico doesn’t have a lot of bungee jumping locations, but there are a few that are better than the others! So, below, I’ve made sure only to include the best of the best.
1. Cancún, Quintana Roo – Extreme Beach Bungee
Location: Bungee in Cancun

For those of you who will be in Cancun, you’re in luck! There’s a bungee jump platform located in the Caribbean Sea. Yes, you read that right; the platform is in the water. It’s an 80-foot platform where you can dive head-first.
The platform is 80 feet above the water, which is pretty deep, allowing jumpers to take a head-first jump. This is an excellent place for beginner jumpers to start, as the platform is short, and even if something goes wrong, you’re above water! So your nerves can relax a bit on this bungee!
The team here is incredible! Your jumping instructor will ensure your safety and show you the proper techniques to take the plunge safely.

If you are looking for a rush, then you need to try this extreme bungee jump at Wild Canyon Adventure Park. The Los Cabos Bungee Bomber is the best bungee in Los Cabos and for good reason.
Bungee jumpers get the unique opportunity to jump from a glass-bottomed gondola that is 300 feet above the rugged landscapes below.
Standing in the glass-floored gondola is a thrill on its own, but jumping from it is even crazier and I promise it will make you scream! It is a one-of-a-kind experience that you must try if you are visiting Los Cabos.
The professional team at the site ensures that first-timers and seasoned bungee-jumping enthusiasts feel comfortable, safe, and are ready for the experience of a lifetime.
3. Acapulco, Guerrero – Paradise Bungee
Location: Av Costera Miguel Alemán 101, La Condesa, 39690 Acapulco de Juárez, Gro., Mexico

This location is a recreation center in Acapulco, Mexico. It is right on the water and allows you to see some of Mexico’s coastal beauty as you free-fall from a 164-foot tower. What’s neat is this jump is directly above the pool of dolphins! So you get to see these fantastic creatures before, during, and after your little adventure.
You’ll also be able to see the skyscrapers nearby, the surfers, and all the onlookers. The view alone is sure to get your heart pumping!
You can opt for a tandem or a solo jump if both combined weights don’t exceed the weight limit. Otherwise, you’re stuck jumping alone.
4. IBO Bungee Cola de Caballo – Monterrey, Nuevo León
Location: Hotel Hacienda Cola de Caballo, Km. 6, Carr. a la Cola de Caballo, Cieneguilla, 67320 Santiago, N.L., Mexico

Now, if you’re looking for something more extreme than the bungees listed above, perhaps traveling to Monterrey should be on your itinerary! ( I know I’d put it on mine.) This jump is 230- feet and is Mexico’s highest bungee platform in the entire countrysite.
First, you will go to the Cola de Caballo Hotel to meet with your jump team. This is where you will receive some training before your big jump debut. After, you’ll travel to the site where the guides will get you geared up. During this time, I highly recommend looking at the forest below! It’s gorgeous.
It goes without saying; the company will pick you up and drop you off at that hotel. It will take about 30 minutes to get to the jump site. Even the ride to the location is fantastic in and of itself, so take some time to enjoy the scenery on the way there and back.
5. Bungy Teques
Location: Lago Pátzcuaro 15, 62915 Tequesquitengo, Mor., Mexico
Bungee Height: 196 feet
Bungee Type: Headfirst over water bungee
Another wild bungee jump in Mexico is located in Tequesquitengo. It is a 60-meter plunge from the huge pink platform, you get to leap out over the Laguna de Tequesquitengo.
Tequesquitengo, often just called “Teques,” is a popular getaway location in the state of Morelos, Mexico. Known for its warm climate year-round and the beautiful lake, Tequesquitengo is a favorite spot for weekenders from Mexico City, given its relatively close proximity to the capital.
If you want a wild bungee jumping experience when in Mexico City this is the best option for you!

If bungee jumping isn’t your thing, or maybe you feel unsure about bungee jumping in another country, that’s fine! Several other activities are like it in the area. You’re sure to get your adrenaline rush no matter what.
Aventuras Denali Mexico – Bungee Jumping (Swing)
Some people call this activity bungee jumping too; however, it is a little bit different than your classic bungee jump, so I didn’t add it to the real list. Instead of a bungee jumping cord, you use a rope and attach yourself to a harness. You then jump from a bridge away and treat it like a swing!
Located near San Joaquin is the Maconi Bridge, where you can experience this wild thrill. The peunting activity starts at 10 am; where you meet up at the Maconi Bridge to begin the tour. All you gear will be provided for the jump, and you guides are experts on how it all works. After a bit of explaining and practice you get to jump!

Ziplining in Mexico
We all love a little adventure; otherwise, we wouldn’t be here. Ziplining is fun but even better when doing it through jungles, waterfalls, and caves. Ziplining in Mexico is so unique as you get to zip in the Mexican jungles. There are so many ziplining tours in the country that no matter where you are, you will have a handful of options to choose from.
Some of the best ziplines in Mexico are:
- Grutas De Tolantongo: This is just north of Mexico City and is surrounded by blue hot springs. You’ll zipline high over the rainforest and have the choice to take a dip in the volcano-heated hot springs and infinity pool.
- Xenotes (Via Xcaret): You can zipline in the cenotes. This particular company will pick you up in Cancun for a day in Yucatan. You’ll get to zipline, swim, cliff jump, and more! It’s a whole bunch of little adventures packed into one.
- Xel-ha in Tulum: Xel-ha is an all-inclusive park where you can go ziplining, take a river tour, snorkel, and enjoy the water park. I was here, and the water ziplines are amazing, you can hold on and let go when you want!
- Xavage in Cancun: If you’re looking for the longest zipline in the country, check out Xavage in Cancun. It will take you over the water, Superman-style!
Skydiving in Mexico
The closest sport to bungee jumping is skydiving. This is a great way to get that adrenaline rush similar to bungee jumping, except you get a way nicer aerial view of Mexico. There are several places to do this:
- Puerto Vallarta: Take a dive over the Pacific coast to view the gorgeous beaches and mountain peaks from high up. You’ll also get the choice of bringing home a professionally edited video and some photos with you. Depending on the company, you can even land on the beach drop zone and top off your trip with a dip.
- Skydive Playa: This is an excellent place to skydive as you’ll see everything from above, like the beaches and forests. However, you’ll also be able to spot the ancient Mayan ruins! So, if you are pressed for time and can’t tour the ruins, this is a great way to still lay your eyes on them.
- Cabo Skydive: Cabo San Lucas is a popular place to visit, but skydiving here will provide you with some of the most beautiful views in the entire world. You’ll get to check out the Baja Peninsula from up high. This location was rated five stars for its experience and customer service.
Cave Diving (Cenotes)
There are thousands of caves in Mexico, with less than half of those documented and studied. These caves are called cenotes, and this is my favorite thing to do when in Mexico.
Getting to go underground and find crystal clear blue water and adventure through the unknown is a wild adventure. Whenever I am in Mexico, I make sure to go on a day excursion of cenotes.
There are many public cenotes you can visit, but you can also book private tours with companies that offer private cenotes tours. Whats great about these is that only you and your tour company has access, so it is very quite and an amazing experience.
You can visit Dos Ojos, as it’s one of the most popular cenotes in Mexico. There’s a large open area you can snorkel in and two separate cavern areas called Barbie and Baticueva. They have stalactites and fossils, as well as some rock formations.
Or you can check out Cenote Calavera, which has a lot of openings that lead to significant, spacious rooms. You’ll see the sun shining through the little holes while you check out the halocline and rock formations.

Climbing and Rappelling
In Nayarit, some rappelling vacations are available, and they involve anchors, ropes, harnesses, and other equipment to get down a vertical rockface. You can do this on dry land or even down a waterfall. It gets your heart pumping, and you’ll have an absolute blast.
If you came with a group of people that might not be into rappelling, don’t worry! Don’t skip the tour! People can still sign up but waive their position in the rappelling group, and instead, they can hike trails and swim in the waterfall pools.
Hot Air Ballooning
One extreme adventure that many people forget about is hot air ballooning! It doesn’t matter how often I go; I always get the same thrill, like bungee jumping and skydiving. No one ride is the same.
The best place to do this in Mexico is Teotihuacan. This is also where you’ll get to visit the ancient ruins of Teotihuacan. That’s the only way you can see them. So, you might as well get a little adrenaline rush out of it while you’re at it.
Each balloon has its own name tagged on it by the company. The basket has four parts, with the pilot in the middle so everyone gets their corner to make these rides as comfortable as possible.
Closed Bungee Jumping Locations in Mexico
I decided it was a good idea to add this heading to the article as sometimes bungee jumping locations are open, and then they are suddenly closed due to many possible reasons.
One location that was quite popular was the Bungee Beat in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. Many people had traveled to the location and paid the $40 taxi ride only to discover it was closed.
As of the time of writing, the Bungee in Cancun is closed temporarily from August 1st 2023 until January 31st 2024.
Are There Any New Bungee Jumps Coming to Mexico?
I could not find anything in all the resources and articles I poured over that says a new bungee jump is coming to Mexico. But remember, there are only a few commercial companies and a wider variety of places to jump if you prefer to go alone.
Those adequately trained and with the equipment have plenty of choices on where to jump and won’t be confined to just the commercial sites. But if you prefer to jump solo, try one of the places mentioned above or the related activities so your vacation is fulfilling!
