Bungee Jumping is one of those sports that has taken the world by storm. While the west coast has plenty of locations to bungee, the same cannot be said for the east coast. But what about Maryland? Are there any bungee locations there?
There are no regular-style bungee jumping locations in Maryland, however there is the Ocean City Slingshot, a reverse bungee ride. Maryland has banned the formation of any bungee jumping operations, making it illegal to conduct such operations or offer them to people for a fee.
In this article, we’ll talk more about the slingshot location and a few nearby bungee locations if you want to take a road trip! But if not, that’s okay, too, as I’ve included other activities you can do in Maryland that will give you the same adrenaline rush bungee jumping gives you.
Where Can You Bungee Jump in Maryland?
If you’re in Maryland and looking for a place to bungee jump, check out the reverse bungee in Ocean City!
Ocean City Slingshot
Location: Ocean City, MD 21842
Bungee Height: 220 feet
Type of Bungee: Reverse Bungee Jump
While bungee jumping is impossible to find in Maryland, the reverse bungee is not! Ocean City Slingshot is a great ride to hop on if you’re looking for that quick fix to your adrenaline craving. This ride is one of the most popular in the area, as many people fill the nearby boardwalk to watch as the Slingshot shoots its victims into the air.
Riders are strapped into a sphere made of steel bars and launched up to 220 feet in the air. You can expect to flip, bounce, and go upside down. Many people have said this experience is scarier than the original type of bungee jumping! So, you’ll surely get the thrill you’re looking for when visiting here.
However, it’s worth noting that this ride is not included in any basic ticket packages. Therefore, you’ll need to pay an additional fee to ride.

Activities Like Bungee Jumping In Maryland
If you feel like traveling only a short distance from Maryland, there are plenty of other activities in the area where you can get the same adrenaline rush as bungee jumping! I’ve listed a few of these, including the locations where to do this.
Ziplining in Maryland
There are many different places to zipline in Maryland! The top three are in Sandy Springs, Frederick, and Rockville. Here are the sites for each of them:
- The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring
- Tree Trekkers Frederick Outdoor Aerial Adventure Ropes and Zipline Park
- Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park
Obviously, the one you choose depends on your location. However, you should take into consideration the different age ranges as well. For instance, Sandy Spring Adventure Park requires kids to be at least five years old, while The Trekkers ask that kids are at least 10.
Plus, you’ll want to look up the number of zip lines each has, as you’ll want to choose the park according to the experience you wish to have. However, in this area, you should know that the ziplines require you to participate in an aerial adventure course, so these are more than just straightforward zip lines.

Whitewater Rafting In Maryland
Another experience you might like if you’re looking for a nice adrenaline rush is whitewater rafting! There are two great companies to choose from:
For a shorter experience, you should choose Adventure Sports Center, as the trips last between an hour and 90 minutes. For something that’s a bit longer with more options as far as the locations and trips, you’ll choose Precision Rafting.
Both companies are experienced and up-to-date on their safety standards. So, no matter where you choose to go, you are in great hands.
Rollercoasters in Maryland
If you find yourself in Eastern Maryland, you’ll want to check out the rollercoasters! One of the best destinations is Ocean City, where the Slingshot is. So, you’ll most likely be going on that as well.
But since the park is worth checking out, you’ll be able to find a wide variety of fun roller coasters as well, such as the Mind Eraser and Superman.
Hurricane Harbor is the water park within the same park and has a lot of waterslides that will keep your blood pumping while also keeping you cool.
Is Bungee Jumping Legal in Maryland?
Bungee jumping in Maryland, as a sport, is legal; however, operating a bungee jumping tour company is not. If someone conducts any bungee jump operation, they will be convicted of a misdemeanor and may be required to pay a $2,500 fine and/or serve six months in jail.
Banning bungee jumping is a common practice, and Maryland isn’t the only state to have strict regulations regarding this sport.
For example, Pennsylvania and Florida have banned the sport until they can come up with some guidelines to instill to keep people safe. Pennsylvania doesn’t have the sport banned entirely, as the ban is only for anyone bungee jumping from a crane.
Are There Any New Bungee Jumps Coming To Maryland?
As far as the foreseeable future goes, no new bungee jumps are coming to Maryland due to the restrictions put in place.
However, this law can change at any point. So! It’s essential that you keep your eye out on the bungee regulations so that if they’re ever lifted, you’ll be able to keep up to date on any new ones in the area.
