I know that bungee jumping is pretty popular around the West Coast, but upon traveling throughout the USA, it seems like the bungee options are few and far between. I mean, of course, if you’re trained to jump alone, you can jump nearly any place you want, but as far as bungee tours by legitimate companies go, it seems harder to find throughout the states. Let’s take Ohio for example… Are there any bungee jumps in Ohio?
There are no bungee jumps in Ohio. However, there are several nearby that you can travel to instead, including Vertigo Bungee and the Great Canadian Bungee in Canada. If you don’t mind alternatives, Darien Lake in NY has a couple of bungee-like rides too.
I will share some of the best places you can bungee jump near Ohio. And if you don’t want to travel out of the state, there are other activities I’ll share with you so you can still get that adrenaline dump you’re seeking.
Where Can I Bungee Jump Near Ohio?
Sadly, there are no bungee jumping tours in Ohio. So, you’ll have to go to a nearby state. Below, I’ve listed a few of the best places!
1. Vertigo Bungee
- Driving Distance from Columbus: 209 miles
- Location: 1539 Tyrone Rd, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342
- Bungee Height: 283 feet
- Bungee Type: Headfirst
One of the best places that you could go bungee jumping is Vertigo Bungee down in Kentucky. This company has been around since the early ‘90s, and they know their stuff! They’ve even jumped with some of the best extreme sports athletes in the world.
They own the Youngs High Bridge, which sits 283 feet above the Kentucky River. Not only do you get to jump with one of the best and oldest companies around, but you’ll also get to enjoy the natural beauty of Kentucky.
2. Slingshot at Six Flags Darien Lake
- Driving Distance from Columbus: 350 miles
- Location: 9993 Alleghany Rd, Corfu, NY 14036
- Bungee Height: 300 feet
- Bungee Type: Reverse bungee
If you don’t mind settling for a reverse bungee, you can head over to Darien Lake. The slingshot is a ride that has a cage attached to two large rubber chords, and it flings you in the air. It’s called a reverse bungee because instead of jumping and snapping back up, you’re launched from the ground, high into the air.
This slingshot will fling you at speeds up to 80 miles per hour, 300 feet in the air. Some even consider it to be more extreme than bungee jumping.
3. Skycoaster at Six Flags Darien Lake
- Driving Distance from Columbus: 350 miles
- Location: 9993 Alleghany Rd, Corfu, NY 14036
- Bungee Height: 180 feet
- Bungee Type: Harness swing
Another ride similar to bungee jumping, still located at Darien Lake, is the Skycoaster. However, it is now under a different name called the Red Hawk. This ride is a harness swing where you can ride with one to two other people or opt to swing alone
You’ll be wenched 180 feet up into the air, cut loose to freefall, and swing through at around 60 miles per hour to the other side until you come to a slow swing and are lowered safely back to the ground.
4. The Great Canadian Bungee (Quebec, Canada)
- Driving Distance from Columbus: 676 miles
- Location: Morrison’s Quarry, 1780 Quebec Rte 105, Chelsea, Quebec J9B 2K4, Canada
- Bungee Height: 200 feet
- Bungee Type: Headfirst
Now, for those of you willing to travel to Canada, you’ll also want to take the time to check out the Great Canadian Bungee. It offers a gorgeous view of the deep blue lagoon, which you can opt to dip your head or whole body in. It’s the perfect jump for a hot day!
This location offers places for watchers to hang out around the gorge. Or, for those who don’t wish to bungee, there is a zipline located there that they can ride on while they wait for you to do your thing.
Activities Like Bungee Jumping in Ohio
If you don’t have the time to travel outside of Ohio, that’s okay! No worries. You can always choose something else that produces the same type of adrenaline rush bungee jumping does.
Skydiving
Skydiving is a great go-to sport, usually available anywhere you go, including Ohio. There are companies all over the state that offer tandem dives for those who are beginners or who aren’t licensed to jump alone.
Here are some of the best places you can skydive in Ohio:
It’s a great way to see the state from a bird’s eye view. Plus, skydiving is very similar to bungee jumping, so you won’t feel like you’re missing out.

Spelunking/Caving
One thing Ohio needs to be better known for is its variety of caves. However, there are several decent places to go that are family-friendly, such as Perry’s Cave and Seneca Caverns.
Perry’s cave is 52 feet under and even has an underground lake. It’s 208 feet long and has cave pearls covering the entire space. On the other hand, Seneca Caverns has various little rooms and is one of the largest caverns in Ohio.
No, spelunking isn’t the same as jumping from a platform with a cord attached to you. But it still gets your heart pumping. There’s just something about being underground, in small spaces, with no quick way out.
Rock Climbing
For those of you who prefer to stay above ground, there’s a place called High Rock Adventures in Ohio. They have several different climbing routes for people of all skills, and the cliffs range from 35 feet to over 75 feet, depending on your preference.
It’s a fully guided tour, so it’s safe for beginners. Plus, they are conscious of nature and only use stainless steel anchors so that no trees are damaged.
However, anyone booking a tour here should be warned that this is much more difficult than indoor climbing. You will be pulling your body weight up vertically continuously. You’ll need to book your reservations in advance. But you won’t have to worry about bringing your own gear, as they provide you with all of that, plus training!
